ANCOATS CHRISTMAS MARKETS LTD
Terms and conditions
1About these terms
These terms apply to the Ancoats Christmas Markets website, our event admissions and relevant dealings with ANCOATS CHRISTMAS MARKETS LTD (company number 16761184), registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is The Nord, Ronnis Mount, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Lancashire, United Kingdom, OL7 9PE. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the company; “you” means the website user, customer, visitor or trader as the context requires.
Contact us at hello@ancoatschristmasmarkets.com, through our website Contact page or by post to the registered office. The event location, opening times, prices, accessibility arrangements and any age restrictions will be stated on the relevant event or booking page.
Please read the terms before booking or applying to trade. Booking terms must be available before payment, and trader terms must be provided before a stall booking is agreed. Website use does not itself create a ticket or stall booking. These terms do not limit mandatory consumer rights.

2Bookings, prices and payment
A booking is accepted when we or an authorised ticketing provider issue a booking confirmation. An acknowledgement of an application or payment request alone does not confirm a stall allocation. Check the confirmation and contact us promptly about errors.
Prices and any applicable VAT and mandatory charges are disclosed before you commit to pay. Optional extras require your agreement. Payments are processed using the payment methods offered at checkout. We will contact you if a genuine price or availability error prevents acceptance and will refund any payment for an unaccepted booking.
Keep your ticket or booking confirmation safe. Table reservations are subject to a valid ticket where required, the booked date or time, capacity and proportionate safety checks. Any transfer or resale restriction must be clearly disclosed before booking. We do not retrospectively apply undisclosed restrictions. Management reserves the right to refuse entry.
3Independent stallholders and purchases
Each vendor or stallholder trading on the premises operates as an independent business on its own account. Providing a stall or displaying a trader on our website does not make the trader our employee, partner or agent.
Unless we expressly identify ourselves as the seller for a particular transaction, your purchase contract is directly with the stallholder whose goods or services you buy. That stallholder is responsible for its descriptions, prices, goods, services, delivery commitments, product safety, legal compliance and customer service.
The independent stallholder is responsible for any faults, defects, misdescriptions, warranties, guarantees, repairs, replacements, returns, refunds and other remedies relating to its products or services. It must honour applicable consumer rights, including the requirement for goods to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. A commercial warranty or guarantee is additional to those statutory rights.
Please retain proof of purchase and obtain the seller’s trading name and contact details. Direct product complaints to that seller. We may help identify or contact a stallholder, but providing assistance does not make us the seller or guarantor.
We do not assume an independent stallholder’s contractual obligations solely because it trades at the market. This clause does not exclude responsibility arising from our own acts, omissions, representations or legal duties, or any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded. If we sell directly to you, we are responsible as the seller.
4Food, drink and allergies
Food and drink vendors are independently responsible for food safety, hygiene, allergen information and their own products. Ask the relevant vendor about ingredients and cross-contamination risks before ordering, particularly if you have an allergy or dietary requirement. Do not assume that an item is allergen-free.
Alcohol is sold only in accordance with the applicable premises arrangements and licensing law. Valid photographic age identification may be required under the policy displayed by the relevant seller. Alcohol must not be supplied to anyone under 18, and service may be refused where legally required or reasonably necessary.
5Admission, behaviour and accessibility
Follow reasonable instructions from event staff and security, posted venue rules and emergency procedures. Do not engage in violence, harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour, theft or conduct that creates a material safety risk. Illegal items, weapons and other clearly identified hazardous items are prohibited.
We may refuse admission or require someone to leave where this is reasonably necessary for safety, legal compliance, a material breach of these terms or the protection of other visitors. We apply these powers fairly and without unlawful discrimination. Any refund decision will reflect the circumstances and your legal rights; refusal or removal does not automatically forfeit every payment.
Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising children. Children’s admission, assistance animals and other access arrangements will be stated on the event page. Contact us in advance to discuss reasonable adjustments; statutory equality rights apply regardless of whether advance notice was possible.
Take reasonable care of your belongings and report accidents, hazards or lost property to staff promptly. This does not remove our duty to take reasonable care or exclude liability where we are legally responsible.
6Programme changes, cancellations and refunds
Stallholders rotate and individual products, performances and activities may change. We will communicate significant changes as soon as reasonably practicable. A minor programme change will not ordinarily justify a full admission refund, but any material change to a feature expressly promised as essential to your booking will be assessed fairly and in line with your rights.
If we cancel the event or the specific admission session you booked, we will offer a refund of the unused admission price and mandatory charges paid to us for that booking. If it is postponed or materially changed, we will explain your options, including a refund where the revised arrangements are not acceptable. An alternative date or credit will not be imposed instead of a refund where you are entitled to one.
Refunds due from us are processed without undue delay using the original payment method where possible, and within any applicable legal time limit. Third-party ticketing fees and refunds are assessed under the disclosed agency arrangements and applicable law; these terms do not remove a legal right to recover a fee.
Tickets for leisure activities on a specified date or within a specified period are generally exempt from the statutory 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right. Unless a booking-specific cancellation option applies or the law requires otherwise, we do not offer change-of-mind refunds for those tickets, including where you cannot attend. For undated products or services, any applicable cancellation rights will be explained before purchase.
Events outside our reasonable control may require a change, suspension or cancellation. We will take reasonable steps to reduce disruption and explain the position. Such events do not automatically remove your refund rights or allow us to retain payment for services we do not provide.
7Trader applications and stall agreements
This section applies to traders acting in the course of business. An application does not guarantee acceptance, exclusivity, a particular location, visitor numbers, sales or profit. We confirm allocation, dates, permitted products, fees, payment deadlines, facilities, insurance requirements and any cancellation terms in a written stall booking.
These trader provisions apply only when supplied and accepted as part of your booking. The signed or expressly accepted stall agreement controls specific commercial arrangements if it conflicts with this section.
These website terms alone are not a substitute for a stall licence or tenancy assessment.
Traders must supply accurate details, keep necessary registrations, licences, permissions and insurance, comply with relevant trading, tax, employment, safety, product, food and consumer law, and follow notified site rules and reasonable operational instructions. Only agreed products and activities may be offered; changes require approval.
Each trader must display its business identity and contact information, give required price and allergen information, provide appropriate proof of purchase and operate an accessible complaints process. It must honour warranties, guarantees and statutory remedies after the event and maintain a contact route for customers.
Traders are responsible for their staff, contractors, equipment, stock, waste and the safety of their trading activities. They must promptly notify us of significant incidents, unsafe goods or recalls and cooperate with appropriate investigations. A stall may not be assigned or sublet without our written agreement.
We may suspend unsafe or unlawful trading immediately where necessary and take proportionate action for material breaches. Where practicable, a remediable breach will be explained with a reasonable opportunity to correct it. Termination, payments and refunds follow the accepted stall agreement and applicable law; no undisclosed penalty or automatic forfeiture is created by this section.
8Website content and intellectual property
The website and our original branding, designs, photographs and written content are owned by or licensed to us. You may view and use the website for personal use or to consider trading with us. Reproduction, commercial exploitation or use of our brand requires permission unless the law permits otherwise.
Do not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, harvest personal data or submit unlawful or misleading material. We take reasonable care over published information but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Please check current event information before travelling.
Links to independent traders, ticketing platforms and other third parties may have their own terms and privacy notices. We are responsible for our own statements and activities; a third-party link does not by itself make us the supplier of that party’s goods or services.
9Photography and personal data
Event photography or filming and any security recording are handled as described in our Privacy Policy and relevant on-site notices. Contact staff if you have an image-related concern.
We use personal data to administer enquiries, bookings, trader relationships and events. We may also contact you about future Christmas market events and related offers where we have the required consent or another legally permitted basis. Marketing choices, unsubscribe rights and further information are set out in the separate Privacy Policy. Accepting these terms is not consent to optional marketing.
10Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for foreseeable loss and damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. A loss is foreseeable if it is an obvious consequence or was contemplated when the contract was made. Consumer bookings are for private use; we do not accept liability for business losses arising from those consumer bookings.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of rights which cannot lawfully be limited, or any other liability which the law does not permit us to exclude or limit.
The independent-stallholder provisions identify the seller’s responsibility; they do not waive your rights against us where we have our own legal responsibility. No blanket exclusion applies to all accidents, property loss or event disruption. Any separate business liability terms must be expressly agreed and legally enforceable.
11Complaints and disputes
For a purchase from an independent stallholder, contact that seller first using your receipt or its displayed details. For admission, our website, our own sales or our conduct, contact us with your booking reference and a clear description of the issue. If you cannot identify a trader, we will provide reasonable assistance where possible.
We will acknowledge complaints and investigate them within a reasonable time, telling you if further information or time is needed. If we cannot resolve a consumer complaint, we will provide information about an appropriate certified alternative dispute resolution body and whether we are obliged or willing to use it, where the law requires.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, but a consumer living elsewhere retains any mandatory right to bring proceedings in their home jurisdiction and any mandatory protections that apply.
12Changes and general provisions
The version accepted when you book governs that booking unless a change is legally required or separately agreed. We may update website terms for future use and bookings by publishing a revised version and date. Material changes to an existing booking will be handled fairly and communicated appropriately.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue so far as legally possible. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. Any transfer of our booking obligations will preserve your rights and we will notify you where required. Nothing in these terms restricts statutory consumer or data protection rights.
